Hakeem officiates at Sri Lanka’s Intl. Water Day celebration

Sri Lanka’s International Water Day celebration was held at the BMICH on 22 March with the participation of several top Government officials led by Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage Minister Rauff Hakeem.

Others present were Minister of Justice and Labour Relations Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Deputy Minister Dunesh Gankantha, Ministry Secretary Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, National Water Supply and Drainage Board Chairman Eng. K.A. Ansar, Deputy Chairman Safeek Rajabdeen, Working Director Mahilal De Silva, General Manager B.W.R. Balasuriya and other senior officials.
Minister Hakeem announced that he would submit a Cabinet paper to appoint a taskforce to preserve river basins and waterfronts in the island.
