History Time Line

1999 – The Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology – Sri Lanka (APIIT-Sri Lanka) was incorporated in September 1999 with the Board of Investment approval to offer tertiary education in Computing / IT, and Business Management in partnership with the Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology – Malaysia and Staffordshire University, UK.

2002 – The year 2002 was yet another landmark in APIIT – Sri Lanka’s stride for private higher education in Sri Lanka. APIIT– Sri Lanka forged ahead and set a benchmark in Computing Degrees, shaping its status as the best private higher education provider in Computing.

2003 – The Business Degrees were the second to be offered at APIIT – Sri Lanka. The establishment of the Business Degree programmes created a solid ground for the individuals who were interested in Business. Eventually, it has produced many globally competitive enterprising Business professionals.

2007 – In order to meet the market need in quality postgraduate studies for an affordable cost, the launching of the Master’s Degree programmes for Internal British MBA and MSc took place in the year 2007.

2008 – As a responsible education provider, the APIIT – Sri Lanka pledged the admission and academic counselling for all the students who were looking for a worthy start in their studies in UK. The effort was applauded by the Staffordshire University, UK by inaugurating the Staffordshire University Sri Lanka Office at APIIT – Sri Lanka. At present, the Staffordshire University Sri Lanka Office at APIIT – Sri Lanka guides all students looking to study at Staffordshire University, UK.

2009 – The year 2009 marks another significant milestone in APIIT – Sri Lanka’s short history. Based on the present-day need in the field of Law, the Law School was established offering an Internal British LLB (Hons) Degree. The Internal British Law Degree has the complete acceptance to the Sri Lankan Legal Structure, providing the eligibility for students to qualify as Attorneys-at-Law. Today, this exclusivity has made this programme become one of the most demanded programmes in Sri Lanka.

2010 – We were honoured to be bestowed with the ISO 1900 2008 Certification for Quality Management Systems as recognition of our efforts to provide our students high quality education.
