Colombo International School
Colombo International School
Overview
Colombo International School was founded in 1982, in response to the growing demand for co-educational, English-medium, high quality education within Colombo. From the start, CIS has been located in Gregory's Road, Colombo 7 (formally known as Cinnamon Gardens), which is generally regarded as one of the most desirable, safe, attractive and quiet residential locations in the city. In 1998 the School opened CIS Kandy.
The ethos and curriculum of CIS Kandy are identical to the main Colombo branch and students are prepared for Edexcel's IGCSE and A Level examinations. A full range of subjects is offered and students have entered major universities in the UK, USA, Australia, Singapore, India and elsewhere.
CIS has established a fine academic record with a curriculum based on the British GCSE, AS and A2 Level qualifications. It is proud of its extra-curricular programme which offers a full range of sports, drama, music, social service and other activities. The school is justly proud of its excellent facilities, offering its students the very best in modern equipment and technology.
The qualified and experienced academic staff of over 200 are a stimulating blend of Sri Lankan and expatriate teachers. The Principal and Education Consultant of the School are both education specialists of British nationality.
