You can apply for a student visa that will be valid through the duration of your course in Sri Lanka. For students below 16 years of age, visas can be obtained for parents/guardians to remain with them.
Applying for a Sri Lankan student visa is a three-step procedure.
– Obtain approval for an Entry visa from the Department of Immigration
– Collect the endorsement for the Entry visa from the nearest Sri Lankan Diplomatic mission/embassy
– Obtain the student visa endorsement on passport from the Department of Immigration in Colombo.
To obtain the entry visa and student visa approvals, you will need to have contacted your chosen education provider for admission so that they can verify your application with the Department of Immigration. For more information, visit the Immigration Services Centre website.
Students should not use the available online visa system for tourist/business visas as visa types cannot be changed in Sri Lanka and this will prevent their enrolment in local institutions.
