THE PROGRAMME

The four-year BSc Special Honours Degree to provide avenues for students to specialize in five different areas namely :

Students could choose the area of specialization depending on their preferences and abilities.

SPECIALIZATION

01. Information Technology

The degree program specializing in Information Technology covers the more technological and applied aspects of computing discipline including software design and software engineering, operating systems, systems administration, and technical support, as well as networking. Graduates of this program typically find positions as software engineers, Software Developers software architects, software quality assurance engineers, web developers, IT managers and systems administrators .

02. Information Systems

The degree program specializing in Information Systems caters to those who are interested in becoming specialists that focus on integrating information technology solutions and business processes to meet the information needs of business and other enterprises, enabling them to achieve their objectives in an effective and efficient manner. Graduates of this program typically find careers as business analysts, system analysts, information managers, and information specialists.

03. Computer Systems & Networking

The degree program specializing in Computer Systems and Networking covers the computer engineering aspects of computing discipline including computer hardware, network engineering, embedded systems, communication systems, interface design, and automation. Positions available for such graduates include network engineers, network designers, systems designers, systems administrators, embedded systems designers, embedded software designers, Information Systems Auditors, Information Security Managers, Database Administrators, IT Managers and Communication Engineers .

04. Software Engineering

The degree programme specializing in Software Engineering prepares for a professional career by providing the necessary skills needed to develop large scale software systems. It combines a solid foundation in requirements engineering, human computer interaction, software analysis and design, programming, software quality assurance, communication skills and an understanding of the social effects of IT. Graduates following this programme find positions as: software engineers, mobile application developers, UI engineers, software architects, games developers, software quality assurance engineers.

05. Interactive Media

The degree program specializing in Interactive Media covers the more technological and applied aspects of the computing discipline including web development, digital imaging, authoring, animation and video editing. The programme caters to those who are interested in becoming specialists focused on multimedia technology. Graduates from this program typically find positions as animator, art director, e-commerce developer, executive producer, graphic designer or artist, interactive designer or interface designer.

COURSE FEE

An all inclusive fee to cover lectures, tutorials and examinations and access to computer laboratory facilities and library is payable prior at the commencement of the programme. The fee for all degree programs mentioned above is presently Rs. 115,000/= (all inclusive) per semester. Except for fees for the Computer Systems & Networking degree program which is Rs. 120,000/=(all inclusive) per semester.Fees for any subsequent semester should be paid prior to the commencement of each semester.
