Course Details : Programme Overview
The Human Resource Management pathway offers an in-depth study of the close integration between people management and the needs of the business.
It looks at how businesses can attract, retain, motivate and manage people and aims to offer you the opportunity to reach the high standards necessary to pursue a successful career in this field.
The programme provides the knowledge, skills and attitudes to manage people effectively within an organisation, as well as communicate well with customers.
You develop methods, practices and techniques for human resource management within a range of situations, and upon graduation, you will be able to demonstrate how to integrate human resources within the wider business strategy, and manage a variety of interpersonal issues that may arise within an organisation.
Program StructureIn the first two years, students on all Business Management degrees follow a common programme, which provides a strong grounding in the principles of modern business management and also introduces functional areas of business and management, including HRM; Marketing; Commercial Law and Operations Management.
In the third year Human Resource Management students take a range of specialist HRM courses such as Employment Relations, Managing Corporate Value and Law of HRM. This specialisation allows students to tailor their degree to meet their career needs and aspirations.
BBA (HRM) is a 3 year full-time degree. This program comprises of lectures, research projects, individual/ group presentations, tutorials and group discussions. After the first 2 years of the degree you will be awarded a Higher National Diploma from the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) At the end of 3 years you will be awarded BBA (HRM) from the Heriot-Watt University.
